Entrepreneurship as a Force for Change

Start It Up Georgia was built on a simple belief: entrepreneurship is one of the greatest mechanisms for changing the world. The program provided free training, mentorship, and community support to Georgians who wanted to launch a business — whether they were unemployed, employed and looking for a new adventure, or simply ready for something more.

Applications closed August 3, 2020. Start It Up Georgia was open to any Georgian ready to take the leap, regardless of background or location.

12-Week Program

This free program began August 10, 2020, with weekly mentor-led community groups, practical and tactical learning labs, and an opportunity to apply for seed grant funding at the program's completion. Start It Up Georgia was open to everyone who wanted to learn how to launch a sustainable business.

12 Lesson Labs

The program consisted of 12 weekly, interactive virtual Lesson Labs led by experts in their field. Each Monday, from 12:30–1:30pm, entrepreneurs learned practical, tangible lessons on how to launch a sustainable business.

Mentor-Led Community Groups

Each participant was placed into a small group of up to 10 entrepreneurs with an assigned mentor, meeting weekly to work through labs, action items, and questions in an open, supportive setting.

Open to Any Georgian
Ready to Take the Leap

Applications closed August 3, 2020. While the free program was created with Georgians in mind, Start It Up Georgia was ultimately open to anyone, anywhere, who was unemployed or simply looking to start something new.

Atlanta Tech Village is America's 4th-largest tech hub. Its mission is to support and inspire entrepreneurs on their quest to change the world through technology. Start It Up Georgia was one of its many programs designed to help people launch and scale successful companies.

Georgia's unemployment rate reached 12% amid the 2020 pandemic. Start It Up Georgia was created to help accelerate the state's economy and help more Georgians launch and own a business.

Our state was facing the highest unemployment rate on record at the time — 12% — and we knew we had to do something. That's why we created Start It Up Georgia to help accelerate our economy and help more Georgians launch and own a business.
